This year two of our senior gymnasts, Kerri and Laura, worked as volunteers at the Summer Games over the weekend 18th to 21st June.  Both girls had actually participated at the last summer games in June 2018 but this time returned to the gymnastics venue as volunteers. During the two days of competition they assisted the judges and event management team by acting as “runners” bringing the scoresheets from the competition floor to the games management office.  Also they were delighted to support Team Eastern Region amongst whom were seven of their Tivoli Tigers friends.

Congratulations to the seven Tivoli Tigers athletes who participated with Team Eastern region at the recent Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games.  You all worked so hard in the run up to the Games with so many extra training sessions – your diligence and positive attitude paid great dividends and we were delighted to celebrate your success.  Many thanks too to the coaches, parents and committee members who supported the athletes along the way; we really have a wonderful club and it just goes to show that “team work makes the dream work!”

May all our Tigers enjoy a restful summer break and we look forward to training resuming in mid-September and we will celebrate again with out wonderful 7 at our first training session in the autumn.

We are very grateful to The Smooth Company who kindly gifted our gymnasts their wonderful Smooth Sticks in advance of the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games.  Also the girls kindly attended one of the team training sessions and passed on some very useful hair styling tips to the gymnasts all of whom looked so well-groomed during the weekend of competition.

A joyous evening of celebration as we closed out the year at Tivoli Tigers and we were especially delighted to send our good wishes to our seven Tigers who will be competing at the Special Olympics Summer Games this year – Luke S, Luke O’C, Matthew, Makayla, Cathy May, Purdy and Beula – wishing you all every success!

Our final training session of the year took place on 21st May 2026 at Newpark Sports Centre.  Following a display of floor routines by all athletes for their family members, we closed out the year with the presentation of awards.  Emily was awarded the Junior Cup and Miko the Senior Cup, both for the period of January to May 2026 and Laura was awarded Tiger of the Year for the period September 2025 to May 2026.  Congratulations to all!

Recent additions to our training equipment are being used very enthusiastically each week at training. Thank you again to Trampolines Ireland and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

Special Olympics Ireland have launched a website specifically focussed on the upcoming Ireland Games, 18th to 21st June 2026.  Here you will find useful information in the run up to the Games so keep checking back regularly for all important updates: www.irelandgames.ie.

We are delighted that seven of our gymnasts have been selected to join Team Eastern Region, they will participate in the Ireland Summer Games next June.  The Games will be held in Dublin from 18th to 21st June.  In the meantime there will be lots of hard work and extra training for these gymnasts as they prepare for this great big adventure!  Congratulations to Luke, Luke and Matthew; Beula, Purdy, Mykayla and Cathy Mae – you will be brilliant.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to the Dave Bradshaw Running Group whose recent raffle raised €1400 which they have kindly donated to Tivoli Tigers.  Colette came along to training on 27th November to present us with the donation and Makayla was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of the club.  Many thanks to Paul & Yvonne Bradley for introducing Tivoli Tigers to their running club.
